Frequently asked questions
What I do
I primarily do a mix of dotwork, blackwork and neo traditional tattoo styles. To see my work either visit my Instagram or view my portfolio here :)
I also do plenty of fineline, script and occasionally little bits of colour so please don’t be afraid to ask for anything different! I love to try new styles.
Prices
I charge by piece, so this all depends on what you want, the style, placement, size etc. Send me an enquiry form to get a quote!
A full day rate is £400, a half day is £250 and my minimum charge is £50.
Deposits
Appointments will only be confirmed once a deposit is paid. Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE. If a major change in design is made too close to the appointment date the deposit may be forfeit and you will be required to pay a new deposit to rebook. If you do not turn up to or are late to your appointment, your deposit will be lost, and you will be required to pay a new one to rebook (unless under exceptional circumstances).
Designs
I draw everything custom, so each tattoo is unique and special to you! I will send a rough sketch to you up to the evening before your appointment, so please keep an eye on your Instagram/email for this. The sketch will give you a rough idea of the shape and where the shading will go, but that is it. The final version will be seen for the first time at your appointment. If you would like to make any changes to the design, please let me know when I send the sketch so this can be done for you. Any major changes to the design, especially on the day, may mean we need to reschedule, and therefore a new deposit will be required.
Alternatively, I also draw my own designs (also referred to as flash tattoos) which can been seen either on my Instagram or in person at Wild Hope Tattoo Studio.
Coverups &
Blastovers
I am happy to accept cover ups and blast over projects, however, I am very selective with what I will take on. If you are interested, please fill out an enquiry form and we can discuss your ideas and whether it is something I feel I can help you with :)
Below are a couple examples of cover ups and a blastover that I have started.
A cover up tattoo is exactly that, designed to completely cover the preexisting tattoo, with little to no evidence that it was there before. There will always be a level of compromise on both ends with cover ups, as the preexisting tattoo can limit our options. If you are unsure, please get in contact and we can see what is best! Sometimes a couple sessions of laser can significantly lighten a tattoo enough to open more options as far as cover ups go!

Blastover tattoos are tattoos that go directly over the top of a preexisting tattoo, but not with the intention of hiding it. In some cases, the goal may be to disguise so that it is not legible, but you can still see the colour poking through. These are often very dark tattoos, so not for everyone, but can give you more immediate options than a cover up tattoo.
Consultations
I offer free consultations to anyone for any reason. Perhaps you want to talk through your idea in person, see the studio and space you will be, or even just meet me and make sure I am the right artist for you! That’s great, lets do that :)
To arrange a consultation, you can either message me on Instagram, email me or fill out an enquiry form and specify that you would like a consult first.
Touch ups
Skin can be unpredictable to a degree, and sometimes accidents happen. I know I’ve scratched at a tattoo early in the morning before realising!
I want you to end up with the best tattoo you can, so I offer free touch ups. These free sessions are to add little lines that may have fallen out, a little gap in a line that shouldn’t be there, make sure solid black is solid or make sure the shading is smooth. Touch ups are not to make shading darker or add an element that was not originally there.
If you feel you need a touch up, please contact me within 3 months of your appointment with a photo(s) and explanation. If it has been over 3 months you will need to pay the minimum charge of £50.
Touch ups on any tattoo on the hand, fingers, feet and neck are NOT free of charge. These will be minimum charge of £50. The skin on these placements regenerates faster than other areas of the body, and combined with the high movement, can make these tattoos more prone to fall out. This is something I go into detail when booking an appt, but please bear this in mind.
Payment
I primarily take payments in cash at the end of our appointment. All deposits can either be paid via direct bank transfer or in cash if you are able to pop into Wild Hope, Folkstone in person.
Tips are never a necessity but always appreciated <3
Before your
appointment
-
Please let me know any accommodations you have- need a chat, not to be spoken to, specific music, not to burn incense the morning of your appointment etc. I am always happy to do whatever I can to make your appointment as comfortable as possible. -
Bring photographic ID with you. Photos of ID will not be accepted! -
Get a good night’s sleep! -
Have a bath/shower the evening before or morning of your appt. -
Eat a hardy meal the morning of you appt. -
Bring sugary drinks and snacks with you. -
Bring fidget toys to keep yourself busy (I do have some in my room too!). -
Bring sunglasses! The lights in the studio are VERY bright so I can see, but they can be overwhelming and overstimulating. I do have sunglasses you may borrow, but please by all means bring your own. -
Bring a blanket or pillow to be extra cosy. -
Bring earphones. -
Moisturise your skin prior to our appt, but please stop 48 hours before. -
Please do not shave before your appt. I appreciate that you are trying to help, but it can cause extra and unnecessary irritation. -
Do not take drugs or drink alcohol before, during or after your appt. -
Wear comfy clothes that will also allow we easy access to wherever we are tattooing – for example, shorts for a thigh tattoo, or a button up/zip hoodie reversed for a back tattoo. If you are unsure what to wear please just ask!
Please be mindful of how much deodorant or perfume/aftershave you wear to your appt as I have asthma as this can trigger an asthma attack.
Please get the correct amount of cash out before your appt.
If there is anything else you wish to discuss or ask, please just get in contact :)
Arriving to your
appointment
Please arrive to your appointment on time, but no earlier than 15 mins early.
If you are more than 15 mins late to your appt without contacting me during this time, I will consider this a ‘no call no show’. This will result in your deposit being lost and a new one to be paid should you wish to reschedule.
Aftercare
-
Day of your appt – Wash your hands, unwrap the initial clingfilm after 2-4 hours, wash with cool water and unscented antibacterial soap and pat dry with kitchen paper towels. DO NOT rewrap immediately. Try to leave exposed to the air until you go to bed. The only exception to this is if you are working or have a pet that may get to it, in which case please rewrap the tattoo with just clingfilm until the evening.
Before you go to bed, wash your hands, wash the tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap, pat it dry with kitchen paper towels and wrap in a layer of clingfilm. DO NOT add any balms or creams yet. -
Day after you appt – wash your hands, unwrap the tattoo, wash with cool water and unscented antibacterial soap, pat it dry with kitchen paper towels. If possible, please leave open to the air from now. If you are working where the tattoo may get dirty you may rewrap it but wash, dry and leave exposed as soon as you can. Starting this evening please apply a small amount of cream or moisturiser to your tattoo. Do this 2-3 times daily for at least 2 weeks. You just want enough to run in, do not leave the tattoo wet. Please wash and dry your tattoo in between moisturising it. The best moisturisers are tattoo specific balms such as Butterluxe or natural products like unscented solid palmer’s cocoa butter. If you are unsure what to use, please get in contact! We do sell small pots of aftercare cream at the studio. Please wash your hands before moisturising your new tattoo! -
Keep pets away from new tattoos! They mean well, but pets are not clean! -
Do not soak your tattoo under water for more than a few seconds for the first 2 weeks. If the scabs come off too early, the ink can come out with it, and we don’t want that! Running water is a ‘okay, but if you are having a bath you may need to keep your arm out for example. -
Your tattoo may get scabby, itchy and start peeling after a few days, this is totally normal! Please do not scratch, itch or pick at your tattoo as this will damage it. If you need to relieve yourself, either tap it gently or moisturise it again. -
Avoid sunbathing and sun beds for the next 4-6 weeks. After this time, please apply factor 50 suncream to keep your tattoo nice and bright! -
Avoid chlorinated water for 6-8 weeks – chlorine is a bleach and can make the ink look light and patchy. -
Wear lighter and looser clothing for around 2 weeks following your tattoo appt. For example, no skinny jeans after a thigh tattoo, only wearing sports bras after a sternum tattoo (or no bra if you can!) or avoiding boots after an ankle tattoo. -
The first healing stage takes roughly 1-2 weeks for the majority of people, but tattoos take 4-6 weeks to initially heal and approximately 6 months to fully heal and settle. This is not a guide for everyone, we are all different so this can adjust!
If you have any serious concerns when healing your new tattoo, please ALWAYS consult a medical professional!
I am always happy to answer any questions at any point of the healing process, please just get in contact!
Happy healing <3
Second skin
I personally do not use second skin products, but I am not entirely against clients using them. If you plan to use them, please let me know prior to our appointment, only buy from reputable brands and do a patch test in a similar area of the body before every use.
Reschedules &
cancellations
I am always happy to reschedule or cancel appointments! I would much rather move an appointment if it means we can make your tattoo perfect, than you feel pressured into getting a tattoo in any way.
I kindly ask for 1 weeks notice in order to reschedule appointments and move the deposit across to the new appt. Any less than this may result in the deposit being void and requiring a new deposit to be paid. If you reschedule an appointment more than once, I may require you to pay the full amount of the tattoo as the deposit going forward.
All deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE.
If you wish to cancel your appointment, the deposit will be lost.
I do appreciate and understand that sometimes life just gets in the way, and this can’t be helped. Please feel free to talk to me, in the cases of exception circumstances I am happy to move you deposit to a new appt.
Where am I?
I am part of the wonderful team at Wild Hope in Folkestone.
We are in the basement of the building so look at eye level for our sign!

Accommodations & accessibility
I pride myself in my ability to make my clients feel as comfortable as possible during the whole experience. Tattoos hurt, unfortunately that is the reality of poking needles in your skin, but I will do everything I can to make the rest of the experience a great one.
My space is a private room located in the rear of the studio. We have a door and curtains that we can close should you want extra privacy too!
I have vegan snacks and sweets available for anyone that wants them at any point during your tattoo!
I have a little box of fidget toys with all sorts of textures for you to choose from.
There are sunglasses and single use foam ear buds available should you need to lower your sensory input during your appointment. If this is still not enough, please ask and I can lower the volume of the music (or turn it off completely). I can also turn off the lights and just use my head torch :)
I also have communication cards if you are unable to speak to me for any reason at all!
We do often burn incense in the morning so please just let me know of you would prefer we did not do this.

My bed has a weight limit of 100kg so please bear this in mind when booking in.
Unfortunately Wild Hope is located in a basement, and there are a small handful of steps to get to us, as pictured below. There is a hand rail to assist you and we are happy to help where needed! There is also one small step into my room.

If there are any other accommodations you need or would like before, during or after your appointment, please do not hesitate to contact me! I will do whatever I can <3

Moles & scars
We cannot tattoo over moles due to the risk that they may become cancerous later in life. This isn’t something that tattooing over can cause, but by covering a mole it prevents you from being able to monitor it for changes. This means sometimes I may leave a little gap in a line where a mole sits. This is entirely on purpose, but I am always happy to discuss this further.
Scars can be tattooed over but there are several factors that can affect this. I ask that any scar is at least a year old, but also no pink-ish tones to it. This can take a handful of years depending on the severity of the scarring. Tattooing over scars may require an in person consult in order to discuss your options going forward. I do appreciate that this can be a sensitive subject so please do not feel the need to explain how or why your scar came to be. Skin is skin, that’s all I need :)
Medical conditions
First and foremost, if you have any medical condition or allergy that may affect your ability to get a tattoo, please consult with your doctor. In some cases, I will ask for a written medical note to confirm you are fit to get tattooed.
You cannot get tattooed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Conditions that I need to be aware of include – Any allergy that may be related to tattoos (for example aloe), heart conditions, neurological conditions, diabetes, cancer, autoimmune illnesses, taking blood thinning medication, anaemia, infectious conditions, skin conditions.
There are plenty of medical conditions that will not stop you getting tattooed but may need extra precautions, extra careful aftercare or a medical note.
I am always happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability, but I am not a medical professional.
Numbing cream
I personally DO NOT recommend any numbing creams or products.
There are a number of risks with using numbing agents and specifically numbing creams. I care far too much about your safety to recommend numbing creams.
There have been several cases from other artists and medical professionals reporting chemical burns from mild to severe and needing surgery as a result. This is not a risk I’m willing to take!
Not only this but numbing creams can affect the texture of your skin, making it harder to tattoo or negatively impacting how your tattoo heals. I put everything into my work, so I do not want an external factor to affect the outcome.
If you turn up to an appointment with numbing cream on, I will turn you away and you will forfeit your deposit. If you wish to rebook, I will require a new deposit to do so.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
